Digital Information Accessibility


During this period of rapid transition, we have an exciting opportunity to create and facilitate digital experiences that are free from barriers and make Rice University a more inclusive place for all.

Rice Policy 851 establishes a standard and framework for digital information accessibility at Rice University and beyond.

Accessing the V2C2 Goals


Rice Policy 851 aligns directly to several goals of the V2C2, including
EXPANDING access, diversity and inclusion,
PROVIDING transformative undergraduate experiences,
BUILDING renowned graduate programs, and
EXTENDING Rice’s global reach and impact.

To truly achieve these goals, we must all work to produce digital information that can be used and accessed equally and independently by everyone.


Standard


The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), version 2.1, levels A and AA is Rice University's standard for digital information accessibility. All content authors, administrators and technology vendors should commit to meeting these criteria.

This Access @ Rice website includes detailed information, practical guides and links to resources about accessible design and remediation, as well as guides for procuring accessible information and communication technologies ICT.
